Volores — created by Colorado-based couple Shelby and Nathen Maxwell (of Flogging Molly) — explores universal themes of life, love, and death through dark alternative rock, stylish post-punk motifs, and disarmingly frank lyricism. Their debut album AGES is a striking testament to the shared musical passions that brought the Maxwells together, drawing inspiration from a variety of artists such as Interpol, Foo Fighters, Sharon Van Etten, and The Cure. The album won ‘Best Rock Album’ from Westword’s ‘Best of Denver’ in 2023 and saw multiple tracks played across radio stations nationwide. The single All That We Could Need was also featured on Apple Music’s ‘New in Alternative’ playlist, further amplifying the duo’s reach.
Volores has shared stages with artists like Lucero, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, and Cracker, earning a loyal following for their emotionally charged performances and stark, beautifully crafted sound. Shores of Scorpio, the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album, is a deeply personal concept record tracing Shelby’s journey through the revelation that her biological father was not who she believed. Recorded at the iconic Sonic Ranch and set for release in early 2026, the album offers a raw, immersive evolution of the band’s sound and signature honesty.
